JUVÉDERM® Face Fillers
JUVÉDERM® treatments, performed in the comfort of our Kittery office, reverse the signs of aging and restore fullness and youthfulness to your lips, cheeks, nose, and mouth.
What is JUVÉDERM®?
JUVÉDERM® restores youthfulness to your face by using lip injections, face fillers, and wrinkle fillers to reverse the natural loss of facial volume due to the natural process of aging.
JUVÉDERM® offers products designed to sculpt specific parts of your face. JUVÉDERM Voluma® XC corrects age-related volume loss to the cheeks of clients over the age of 21 years.
If you are over the age of 21 and have moderate to severe facial wrinkles, lines, and folds, JUVÉDERM® XC and JUVÉDERM Vollure™ XC are your best options. JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC and JUVÉDERM Volbella® XC injections target lip augmentation and wrinkles around your lips.
JUVÉDERM® injectable gels are comprised mainly of hyaluronic acid which is naturally present in skin keeping it supple, plump, and youthful.
How long does JUVÉDERM® last?
JUVÉDERM’s wrinkle fillers, face fillers, and lip injections are known to last up to two years in the cheek area.
You should not seek JUVEDERM® injection treatments if you have allergic reactions to any of its components and ingredients, are pregnant or breastfeeding, are taking any immunosuppressive or blood-thinning medications, or have a history of excessive scarring.
Which JUVÉDERM® filler is right for me?
Dr. Shepherd, D.O., will carefully examine your facial areas and discuss your goals before advising you on the correct JUVEDERM® filler to administer. Make sure to know and discuss your medical history during your consultation.
JUVÉDERM® XC and JUVÉDERM Vollure™ XC both treat facial folds. Is there a difference between them?
JUVÉDERM® XC and JUVÉDERM Vollure™ XC are both used to reduce wrinkles, especially around the nose and mouth. However, the hyaluronic acid makeup of each is a bit different. JUVÉDERM Vollure™ XC treats severe facial folds and JUVÉDERM Vollure™ XC treats less severe wrinkles.
Can you explain the difference between JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC and JUVÉDERM Volbella® XC treatments for lip augmentation?
Like JUVÉDERM XC and Vollure™ XC, both JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC and Volbella® XC are also formulated a bit differently than the other. Both Ultra XC and Volbella® XC restore fullness to your lips, Ultra XC treats thin lips while Volbella® XC is more subtle. Volbella® XC also smooths vertical lip lines.
How long does JUVÉDERM® last?
JUVEDERM® product results vary from individual to individual, both in the effect they give and the amount of time they last.
JUVÉDERM Voluma® XC for the cheeks can last up to two years; JUVÉDERM® XC for wrinkles can last for one year while JUVÉDERM Vollure™ XC can last up to 1 ½ years. JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC and JUVÉDERM Volbella® XC, lip fillers, can last up to one year. Retreatment, however, has been found to require a lesser dosage.
Do JUVÉDERM® injections hurt?
JUVÉDERM® injections may cause you to feel a bit of a prick or sting. JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC for lips contains an anesthetic called lidocaine, which provides temporary numbing. If you are uncomfortable with feeling even a bit of a sting, let us know and we’ll apply a topical numbing agent.
The treatment itself can last up to a ½ hour but you should be able to return to work almost immediately.
How much does the JUVÉDERM® treatment cost?
Since JUVÉDERM® injections are customized to the needs of each client, costs will then vary. Dr. Shepherd will determine the proper dosage to meet your goals.
Do JUVÉDERM® injection treatments have side effects?
The most commonly reported side effects to JUVÉDERM® treatments are related to skin reactions such as redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, discoloration, itching, and bumpiness. These issues typically resolve in 2 to 4 weeks and can be covered with makeup in the meanwhile.
More serious and more rare, complications can arise from JUVEDERM® injection treatments if the injection penetrates a blood vessel. Blindness or stroke could occur. This is why it’s crucial to have a doctor like Dr. Shepherd to administer your JUVÉDERM® treatments.
